A Quick Note on Crappie (As a Forage Species)!
When Crappie are abundant in a fishery, they often become a big part of the food source for larger predatory fish. Despite this, crappie commonly get over looked by anglers attempting to match their patterns to either shad, bluegill and crawfish. Before heading out onto a new body of water, it may be worthwhile to spend some time researching your body of water to see if it is home to a healthy crappie population (along with other forage species as well)! Checkered black and white patterns work well for mimicking the color profile of a North American Crappie.
